7 Books to Add to Your ALEX Library to Excite Readers
July 9, 2025

At Alexandria, we believe libraries are for everyone! What better way to celebrate that spirit than by honoring Hispanic Heritage Month with something fun, free, and full of color?

From September 15 to October 15, we’re inviting school libraries to join in the celebration with a set of three bilingual posters (English and Spanish) that highlight the power of reading and the richness of Hispanic culture. These posters are free to download and print, and they’re perfect for brightening up your library walls while celebrating diversity and literacy.

Whether your readers speak English, Spanish, or a bit of both, these posters are a fun way to make them feel seen — and inspired to read!

Celebrate with Picture Books!

Looking to build a display or reading list to go along with the celebration? Here are some fantastic picture books by Hispanic authors and illustrators that honor culture, language, and identity:

“Alma and How She Got Her Name” by Juana Martinez-Neal

A sweet, heartfelt story about a little girl learning the story behind her long name — and her rich family heritage.

“Just Ask! Be Different, Be Brave, Be You” by Sonia Sotomayor

Written by the Supreme Court Justice herself, this empowering book encourages kids to embrace differences — in themselves and others.

“Carmela Full of Wishes” by Matt de la Peña, illustrated by Christian Robinson

A beautifully illustrated tale about dreams, family, and finding magic in everyday life.

“¡Vamos! Let’s Go to the Market” by Raúl the Third

A lively, bilingual book bursting with detail and energy — perfect for young readers navigating two languages and cultures.
