Tip of the Week - Recalled—By Email

Tip for: 05.03.10

Recalled — By Email

A patron, perhaps a teacher, has had an item for a considerable length of time and someone wants it. Wouldn't it be wonderful if you could just push a button and a recall notice would be sent to that patron via email? Alexandria comes pretty close

Alexandria has added the KM command in version 6 which will generate an email recall notice. Of course, you must have email addresses for your patrons.

To send a recall notice by email:

  • Make the item the current item using the T command (i.e. T Harry Potter) and selecting the appropriate title.

  • Type KM = and press <enter>.

For v6:

"I've been pleased with Alexandria ever since we bought the program. Tech support has been great and I like the fact that I can call at all hours, even when working late and get a human to help me."
