Current Patron and Item Icons

Summary: This week’s tip will look at what the different icons available from the Current Patron and Current Item will allow you to do.  They give quick access to information such as Patron or Item Details and open the tabs at the bottom of the Circulation window, such as the Holds or Reservations tab. 

Current Patron Pane

	By clicking on this icon users can open a window displaying details for the current patron, such as items checked out, holds, fines, etc.
	This icon opens the Charges tab on the Circulation window and displays any charges or fines for the current patron.
	Users can view a list of the current patron’s holds or pending holds by clicking on this icon and opening the Holds tab.
	Click this icon to open the Reservation tab and view the current patron’s reservations.
	Clicking on this icon displays a list of items checked out to the current patron and allows the user to either renew them or declare them lost.
	If the current patron has any notes attached to their record, users can click on this icon to open a Notes window and view them..

Current Item Pane 

	Click on this icon to open a window displaying details for the current item, such as copy status, author, summary, etc. (This icon changes from a closed book to an open one as you move over it.)
	Users can view a list of the patrons with holds or pending holds by clicking on this icon and opening the Holds tab.
	Click this icon to open the Reservation tab and view the current item’s reservations.
	To quickly view the Copy Stats for the current copy, click on this icon.  User’s will be able to see the last few patrons to have the copy.
	Clicking on this icon renews the current copy for the patron who has it checked out.
	To mark the current copy for recall, click on this icon.  Users can then run the Recall Notice format of the Patron Notice report from Circulation reports.
	If the current copy has any notes attached to it’s record, users can click on this icon to open a Notes window and view them.

We hope this helps those of you who may have not been familiar with what these icons would allow you to do in Alexandria.  When you update to v5.5.3, after it is released, you will notice a change in the look of these icons.  However, they will be similar and in the same location.
