Tip of the Week
Tip for: 09.25.2006
Looking at the status of a copy
Summary: At some point you may have wondered who previously had an item checked out. The Copy Stats tab of the Copy window shows the current status of the copy as well as the previous three patrons who have checked the item out. In an effort to make this information more accessible, an icon has been added to the Current Item pane of the Circulation window.
Starting in v5.5.2.1 of Alexandria, you can click on the Copy Statistics icon to open the Copy Record window for the current copy and view this information. Look for a bar graph icon along the bottom of the Current Item pane.
This information is viewable in previous versions. You just have to go to the Item window and double click on the desired copy. You can then click on the Copy Stats tab and view the same information.
You may wonder why a more complete history isn't kept for a copy. Due to privacy issues, Alexandria only retains the past three checkouts. This feature will help determine who may have caused some unseen damage, etc., without a conflict with the privacy issues of those who have checked out the copy while it has been in inventory.
We hope that as you update to version 5.5.2.1, you will find this new timesaving feature helpful.
Thank you,
The Alexandria Staff Librarians
