Circulation Statistics
Summary: Statistics and accountability have become more and more important to show how well used and valuable a library is. In previous tips, we have discussed some different usage reports. However, there are also general circulation statistics that can be used to get an overview of the activity in a library. The Statistics window shows information such as: Total Activity, Total New Titles and Copies Added, Items Lost both from Inventory and by Patrons, Items Found, Total Items and Copies Removed, Total Copies Checked In and Checked Out, Total Holds, and Reservations.
In earlier versions of Alexandria, these statistics were available by going to Preferences and then selecting the appropriate tab from the Circulation preferences. Since the v5.4.4 updates to Alexandria, the Circulation Statistics is now available right from the Show menu.
To view Circulation Statistics:
- Use the Show drop-down menu to select Circulation Statistics.
- Click the Generate Report button to view a printable version of your circulation statistics.
Along with being able to generate a report of your statistics, you can also click the Reset Counters to clear your statistics. This allows you to reset daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly depending on how frequently you want to record your statistics. There is also a Refresh Counters button that can be used to verify that the circulation statistics are accurate.
We hope you will find this change useful in making the statistics more easily accessible and easier to share by generating the report.
Thank you,
The Alexandria Staff Librarians
