Inventory using v5.5.1
Summary: Inventory is generally done at the end of a school year, or some other specific time of year, based on the library. Alexandria is set up to allow inventory at any time desired by the user. Alexandria v5.5.1 offers some new circulation command options to make inventory efficient for users who do their inventory using a wireless scanner or other similar situation. Users have previously been able to do an inventory using either the I command or the IB command. The I command allows items to be inventoried without changing their current status (checked-out, lost, and others). The IB command allows an item's status to be changed as it is scanned for inventory. Inventory and Inventory Bookdrop allow items to be inventoried while showing dialogs that need to be acknowledged while inventorying. Alexandria v5.5.1 changes this with the addition of two new commands. The new IS or Inventory Suppress Mode command allows the user to inventory, as with the I command, but it suppresses the dialogs that might come up. This is why it is useful for users who are inventorying using a wireless scanner or a similar situation. The IBS or Inventory Bookdrop Suppress Mode command suppresses dialogs while in IB mode. By suppressing dialogs, the IS and IBS modes make remote inventory quicker and more efficient since there is no longer the need to deal with dialog windows that come up periodically during an inventory.
