Web Librarian in v5.5.1

Summary: The recent release of v5.5.1 is very exciting and this week's tip will discuss one of the big additions to Alexandria – Web Librarian. This new feature allows users to log into Alexandria Web using their administrative usernames and passwords and utilize a multitude of capabilities to manage their library remotely using a web browser.

Web Librarian allows a user to check books in and out, add users, add items, run frequently used reports, and more. No more needing to download a client or use a remote device to check things in or out from a classroom or even a computer in the library that isn't typically used for circulation, etc.

Along with being able to do typical circulation, a user can catalog new items or add a new patron using the Management tab. Web Librarian also allows you to run Rebuilds and Verifies remotely along with updating your Web preferences from the Utilities and Preferences tabs. The Report tab links you to a list of commonly run reports, such as overdues, loaned items list, holds, reservations, and weekly or monthly circulation statistics.

For those with the Web module of Alexandria, we think you will enjoy this new functionality enabling you to log into a Librarian client from any computer with a web browser.

Thank you,

The Alexandria Staff Librarians
