Usage Statistics for Copies

Summary: Previously, we have discussed some of the Statistics reports for finding usage by policy, etc. This week's tip will discuss some other usage reports. Prior to v5.5.0, Item Copy Usage and Monthly Usage could be found listed separately on the Report Name drop-down menu of Item Reports. With the recent v5.5.0 updates, these report options can be found as Formats under the Usage report option of Item Reports.

These usage reports offer the option of seeing usage for each copy or even by call number classification. With the wide range of options available and the different formats, you can get statistics that are as general or as specific as you want. For example, the 1-Line format shows a count of the number of copies checked out by month and year, while the Year to Date Usage report shows the year's usage by individual copy. This makes it possible for you to quickly glance over the numbers to find what copies have seen the most usage over the past year.

To run the Usage reports from Item Reports:

Choose Item Reports from the Reports menu

Set the Report Name drop-down menu to Usage.

Select the desired report format from the Format drop-down menu.

Use the Sort By and Select By drop-downs to choose the desired order for the report and the information to be used to create the report.

Click Print to view the report on screen.

Select Print from the File menu or use the appropriate hot keys to send the report to your printer.

If you are using a version of Alex prior to v5.5.0, select Monthly Usage to get an overall usage report and Item Copy Usage for more specific usage information.
