Where is my Data Folder?

Summary: Those of you running v5.5.0 or later on a Macintosh have likely noticed that the Data folder is no longer in the Alexandria folder in the Applications folder. This change was made to help with operating system security.  By placing these files in a shared application folder, a user doesn't need special security access in order to access their Data, Links Menu, Archive, and other folders.

To help deal with this change, Alexandria has been modified to quickly open up the Alexandria Application Support folder through the Archive and Rebuild preference window.

To open the Application Support window from Alexandria:

  • Select Preferences from the Edit drop-down menu.
  • Change the Library Information preference drop-down menu to Archive & Rebuild preference and change the  Local drop-down to Global.

AppleMark?

  • Click on the Open Archive Folder button.

AppleMark?

  • You will notice that the Archive folder is opened in the final column, but you can use this as a way to view the items in the Alexandria Support folder.

Thank you,

The Alexandria Staff Librarians
