Import Link from Z39.50

Summary: For those of you who have the Z39.50 search add-on as part of your Researcher window, we thought we would discuss a little known feature that you may find useful in cataloging new items. Alexandria allows the user to import individual records from the item's details window after doing a search from the Data Station or a Librarian client.

To import records from a Z39.50 search:

• Select Z39.50 databases to search from the Address Book tab of the Administration Preferences.

 

• Select Researcher using the Show menu from the Data Station or a Librarian Work Station.

• Click on the Z39.50 tab.

• Use the Collection drop-down menu to select the collection to search.

• Enter your search criteria.

• From the Results list, choose the desired title to import.

• Double click on the Title to view the Details for the item.
• Scroll to the bottom of the Details window and click on the Import link.

• The title will then appear in the Import window ready to be added to the local collection.

• Click the Start button after making sure that the settings are correct, or go to another title to add other items to be imported at the same time.
