Browse by Class Icon

Summary: Recently we have been discussing some new features available in v5.5 of Alexandria. This week's tip will discuss the new Browse by Class icon. The green dot on the Circulation window offers yet another way for users to make a patron current without needing their barcodes.

Previously, Alexandria has offered two basic options for bringing up a patron's record to check items out to them, view details, etc. Users can scan the patron's barcode or they can search for the patron by last name using the L command. By clicking on the green dot and selecting the desired homeroom, the user can quickly bring up a list of patrons from a particular homeroom (location) to choose the appropriate patron record.

To use the Browse by Class button:

Click on the green dot at the top right-hand corner of the Circulation window.

• Select the desired homeroom (location) from the list by clicking on the name and then the OK button or double click on the name.

• Make the desired patron current by highlighting the patron and clicking on OK or double click on the patron to select them.

We think you will find that this Browse by Classroom feature will give you yet another way to make your circulating quick and easy.
