Changing the Text of a Notice
Summary: Alexandria comes with default text for the different notices librarians can send to patrons and vendors. This tip will show you how to change this text to meet your needs.
To edit the text of a Notice (applies to all patron notices, including Overdue notices, In-Stock Hold notices, Recall letters, Reservation reminder notices, and Overdue Suspension notices.):
- Select Preferences from the Edit menu.
- Use the Library Information drop-down menu to select Circulation.
- Leave the Local drop-down menu set to Local. (Because this is a local preference, this text can be set differently at each Librarian Work Station Client, if desired.)
- On the Circulation tab, use the Letter drop-down menu to select the notice to edit.
- Highlight the default text and type in your new text.
- Click Save to save the changes made to the letters, or Revert to cancel changes.
- If you decide later to change back to the default text, you can use the Restore Default Letter button at the — right just above the text field — to revert to the default text.

To modify the vendor Claim Letter or Patron Receipt Letter:
The Claim Letter is used to alert vendors to remove items from an order if they can't be delivered by a certain time (usually for backordered items that are taking a long time to be processed). The Patron Receipt Letter is used to alert patrons that items they've requested be ordered are now available.
- Select Preferences from the Edit menu.
- Use the Library Information drop-down menu to select Orders.
- Leave the Local drop-down menu set to Local. (Because this is a local preference, this text can be set differently at each Librarian Work Station Client, if desired.)
- Click on the Letters tab to bring up the letter fields to edit.

- Highlight the default text and type in new text.
- Click Save to save the changes made to the letters, or Revert to cancel changes.
- If you decide later to change back to the default text, you can use the Restore Default Claim/Patron Letter buttons at the right just above the text field to revert to the default text.
Thank you,
