Be Alert: Set an Alert note for Items or Patrons from Circulation

Summary: Alert notes are a great way of being reminded of a parental request or other important information regarding a patron. It can also be helpful in keeping track of pieces belonging to a particular item or other important item information. These messages appear each time the item or patron is current. Many of you may know how to add these notes from the item or patron windows, but this tip will show you how to add these notes right from the Circulation window.

To add a Patron Alert Note:

Open Alexandria to the Circulation window.

Make the patron you wish to add the alert to the current patron.

In the Command field, enter "!" followed by the text to add as the note.

Click <enter>, to set the note.

To add a Item Alert Note:

Open Alexandria to the Circulation window.

Make the item you wish to add the alert to the current item.

In the Command field, enter "!!" followed by the text to add as the note.

Click <enter>, to set the note.

To clear an Alert Note:

Open Alexandria to the Circulation window.

Make the patron or item you wish to remove the alert from current.

In the Command field, type "!#" for Patron notes or "!!#" for Item notes.

Then, click <enter>.
