What's Up With Default Local?
Summary: Over the past several weeks we have covered the new Local drop-down menu for selecting different preference options. Let's conclude this series of tips by discussing the Default Local setting in greater detail.
Default Local preferences are stored on the Data Station, much like the Global preferences. These settings are used to create the Local preferences when installing new clients. Once the installation is complete, desired local changes can be made to individual machines. For example, you may wish to set each workstation to use a different Next barcode, using the Local Item Management preferences. Like the Global preferences, a user with the appropriate security level can modify these settings from any client. However, these changes only affect clients that haven't had changes made to their Local preferences.
