Local Sweet Local

Summary: Continuing with the Local drop-down menu, we will now discuss the Local setting.

Local preferences comprise the settings that can be changed on a machine-by-machine basis. These settings are stored on each individual workstation and can only be changed at that machine. Authority Control, Display Settings, Routes, Sounds, and Word Processor are the preferences affected only on a local level. This ensures that users at different machines can have different colors, alert sounds, etc. if desired. Alexandria Researcher, Circulation, Item Management, Library Information, Orders, and Patron Management comprise the group of preferences that are affected both locally and globally.

To modify a preference:

Select Preferences from the Edit menu.

Use the Library Info drop-down menu to choose the desired preference.

Select the appropriate setting using the Local drop-down menu.

Make the desired preference changes.

Click Save.
