Backing Up & Archiving with Tech Notes
Summary: It is extremely important to back up your Alexandria data on a regular basis. You can back up to an external medium such as a zip disk, CD Rom, external hard drive, or run an Archive that can be set to save to a particular location on a computer. Realizing that this can be a challenge, Technical Support has created Tech Notes to help customers as they back up on Windows or Macintosh platforms, or as they archive. The archiving Tech Note also offers directions for restoring from an Archive, which can be used for restoring from an external medium as well (with the minor adjustment of where the file to be moved is located).
Your back up data is only valuable if you can recover from it. Take the time to practice and understand how to recover your data. Each library's backing up or archiving process is going to be somewhat unique, so it is important to understand the process for your situation. Taking the time to understand how to make your back up and recover from it, can save you a lot of time and heartache in the future if there is ever a problem.
