Tip of the Week - How Do You Know What to Weed or Update in Your Collection?

Tip for: 12.22.2003

How Do You Know What to Weed or Update in Your Collection?

Summary: Wouldn't it be nice to know which parts of your collection contain old or outdated items? Did you know that a section of the Super Summary provides a breakdown of the publication age of your collection? A new 5.44 feature of the Super Summary displays the average publication year for each category.

To run a Super Summary Report:

  • Select Item Reports from the Reports menu.

  • Use the Report Name drop-down menu to choose Super Summary.

  • Leave the Format drop-down menu as Regular.

  • Input the Inventory Start Date.

  • Leave the Select By drop-down menu as All Items.

  • Click Print.

  • Scroll down to the section that gives the detailed breakdown of the publication age by call number range.

The next tip of the week will be on January 5, 2004.

Thank you,

"I've been pleased with Alexandria ever since we bought the program. Tech support has been great and I like the fact that I can call at all hours, even when working late and get a human to help me."
