Using the Keyboard to Override a Policy Message

Summary: Those of you with previous Alexandria training may be familiar with the ESC key shortcut to override a policy warning and allow a transaction. The functionality for selecting Override has changed in our recent update (v. 5.4.4 Rev. C).

Directions:

If the limit for the patron's policy is exceeded, a Message box will appear. The two options offered are Override and Cancel. Because Cancel is highlighted, simply click the Enter (Windows) or Return (Macintosh) keys.

In earlier versions, the ESC key allowed you to override. In v. 5.4.4 Rev. C, hold down your <ctrl> and the O key (Windows) or <cmd> (Macintosh) to select the Override option without using your mouse.

Note: If a policy message comes up for a user logged in with a level that does not allow overrides, enter your password to complete the transaction.
