Using the Keyboard to Override a Policy Message
Summary: Those of you with previous Alexandria training may be familiar with the ESC key shortcut to override a policy warning and allow a transaction. The functionality for selecting Override has changed in our recent update (v. 5.4.4 Rev. C).
Directions:
- If the limit for the patron's policy is exceeded, a Message box will appear. The two options offered are Override and Cancel. Because Cancel is highlighted, simply click the Enter (Windows) or Return (Macintosh) keys.
- In earlier versions, the ESC key allowed you to override. In v. 5.4.4 Rev. C, hold down your <ctrl> and the O key (Windows) or <cmd> (Macintosh) to select the Override option without using your mouse.
Note: If a policy message comes up for a user logged in with a level that does not allow overrides, enter your password to complete the transaction.
