Unraveling the Mystery of Receiving Subscriptions

Summary: Receiving a subscription may not have as many exciting twists as an Agatha Christie novel, but Alexandria offers two quick clues to make this detective work easy.

Clue One: Receive a Subscription from Circulation

• On the Alexandria Circulation window, type E <Enter> in the Command field.

• Select the subscription to be received from the list and click OK.

• If you know the subscription code for the subscription being received, you can skip the subscription list window by typing E <subscription code> <Enter> in the Command field.

• Note that if there is a route associated with this subscription, a Print window will come up to send the list to the printer. If you checked the Inventory on Receipt box, a cataloging window will also appear.

• Enter the information desired and click Save.

• Notice that an entry will be made in the subscription record on the History tab to indicate that an issue has been received.

Clue Two: Receive a Subscription from Subscriptions

• Go to the Show menu and select Subscriptions.

• Use the Find command under the Subscriptions menu to do a search for the subscriptions you wish to receive. You can also use the forward and back arrows to move between the subscriptions.

• Click the Receive Subscriptions button.

• Note that an entry will be made on the History tab, indicating that an issue was received.

• If there is a route associated with this subscription, a Print window will appear, allowing you to send the list to the printer.

• If the Inventory on Receipt box was checked, a cataloging window will appear. Enter the information desired and click Save.

By using either of these options for receiving a subscription, you can track when issues are received and run subscription reports to determine which issues are overdue. We hope this helps you to deal with periodical subscriptions in your library.
