Circulation Modes
B {optional barcode}—Bookdrop Mode
G {optional item barcode}—Reservation Mode
H {optional item barcode}—Hold Mode
I—Inventory Mode - even if you just type in "I{barcode}" it will switch into inventory mode
IB—Inventory Bookdrop Mode - even if you just type in "IB {barcode}" it will switch into inventory bookdrop mode
J {optional item barcode}—Reserve Mode
R {optional item barcode}—Renew Mode
GG—Reservations checkout by item - check out items that have reservations that begin "close" to the current date - even if you type in "GG {item barcode}" it will switch to GG mode.
GPP {optional patron barcode}—Reservation checkout by patron - GPP takes the patron barcode and attempts to find pending reservations in the near future. If a reservation is found, it's checked out to the current patron - even if you type in "GPP {patron barcode}" it will switch into GPP mode
GP {patron barcode}—Reservation by Patron - places reservation on a current item for several different patrons
G# {item barcode}:start date:end date:A—This will check out the item to the current patron from start date through the end date. The ':A' parameter is optional. If there is an A and the copy specified by the barcode is not available it will search through that title's other available copies and try to check a different copy out. The dates need to be entered in reverse order: i.e.; G# 3140:20000105:20000115:A
Other Circulation Commands
AS—Self Service Checkout - this is for lab aides or others who should only have access to a very limited amount of commands. The only way to exit this should be by Restarting Alexandria v5
ASB—Self Service Bookdrop - same rules apply as AS mode
NP {new location code}—Change Patron Location Mode
NC {new location code}—Change Copy Location Mode
\ {old barcode = new barcode} —Changes the barcode - note, it's a backslash
Y—Statistics Mode - this mode is used to record items as being used without checking them out. Say, if a class pulls a whole bunch of books off the shelf and leaves them on the tables. Use statistics mode to record those items as being used but not checked out
UI {optional new policy code}—Change Item Policy - quickly changes the policy for the item barcodes you enter. If you don't enter a policy code, it will bring up a window to choose from
UP {optional new policy code}—Change Patron Policy - quickly changes the policy for the patron barcodes you enter. If you don't enter a policy code, it will bring up a window to choose from
UR -- Use this command to restore the policy code which you changed with the UI or UP commands.
V [type] [keyword]—Start Classification Mode - Assign keywords to items. For example - "V S Chocolate Milk" - Alexandria would display "S*Chocolate Milk" next to the command line. Any item barcode you then enter will have the Subject "Chocolate Milk." Options are: B (for Bibliography keywording), C (for Curriculum keywording), I (for Interest keywording), and S (for Subject keywording).
K -- Issues a Recall for a specific item. If the item is not checked out, no request will be recorded.
KM -- Issues a Recall for a specific item and automatically sends the recall notice to the patron via email.
E {optional subscription name}—Receive Subscription
M [route name] [=item barcode]—Issue Routing Slip - this will print it to the printer, not the screen
*—Read a transaction file - can be used for importing circulation imports.
