Instructions for Loading Converted Data on a Windows Data Station

Technical Note Summary:
These instructions were written to assist Media Specialists installing the Alexandria program and their data from a conversion CD. You will only need to use this guide if COMPanion converted your data from another format.
Insert the Converted Data CD into your CD-ROM drive. If the Alexandria Setup screen does not come up automatically, click on the Start button, and then click on Run. At the Open prompt, type D:\SETUP, then click OK.
NOTE: IN THE ABOVE EXAMPLE, D: REPRESENTS THE LETTER OF THE CD-ROM DRIVE.
The following window will appear. Click on Next.
The next window will allow you to select a folder where Alexandria will install. If you wish to install Alexandria to a different directory, you may modify the directory by clicking on Browse. You can also manually choose a directory by typing the path under Destination Directory. Click Next to proceed with the installation process.

NOTE: THE DEFAULT DIRECTORY IS ALREADY SELECTED. IT IS RECOMMENDED INSTALLING TO THIS DIRECTORY, THOUGH NOT REQUIRED. PLEASE BEAR IN MIND THAT IF YOU CHANGE THE DEFAULT INSTALLATION DIRECTORY, TECHNICAL SUPPORT WILL HAVE NO IDEA WHERE THE DATA IS LOCATED AND MAY SPEND ADDITIONAL TIME ON EACH CALL TRYING TO LOCATE IT. PLEASE NOTE WHERE THE PROGRAM IS INSTALLED FOR FUTURE REFERENCE. THIS WILL HELP EXPEDITE YOUR ISSUE RESOLUTION WHEN YOU CALL TECHNICAL SUPPORT.
The installation process will copy files for the program and your data. When installation completes, click Close.
After you close the installation program, launch Alexandria by double clicking on the Alexandria icon created on your desktop.
Once in Alexandria, click on the Show menu and go down to Items. You can browse your newly converted data to ensure that it is all there.
