Lexile levels indicate the reading level both for items and students. Many schools have implemented Lexile leveling in order to track the progress, and to improve the reading skills of their students. For schools using Lexile leveling, it is critical for the library automation system to support Lexiles. Alexandria is the library automation solution for implementing a truly beneficial Lexile strategy—no other library system can compete!
For Librarians—Helping students read on the right level is a snap!
- Visually see if the book a student wants to check out is on their correct reading level directly from the Alexandria circulation screen.
- Point students to books that interest them and, more importantly, are on their reading level.
- Play a big role in improving student reading and essential growth and achievement.
- Alexandria keeps a record of Lexile level history for each student. Thus, a student’s progress is readily trackable and more importantly reportable.
- Unlike other library systems, you don’t have to give us your critical library data to update it with the latest Lexile scores. Update your data whenever it’s convenient for you using Alexandria’s unique Lexile Update Utility. It is available and built directly into Alexandria when you are ready to use it.

For Students—Getting the right book was never easier!
Students may search using the Help Me Find a Book feature to locate items on their correct Lexile level. In fact, students do not even need to remember their Lexile levels. By logging in at the OPAC and checking the Help Me Find a Book option, Alexandria automatically pulls up seven books in the patrons lexile range and search interest. An additional seven titles will be shown each time the Search button is clicked.
Many reports allow selection by Lexile Level which facilitates providing bibliographies for Lexile level groups.

"Alexandria has proven to be more "user friendly" than my previous system. If I need to perform a task the manual has everything written in plain English. The instructions say do this and this will happen, now do this and this will happen. I don't feel I need to have a degree in rocket science to perform my duties as a librarian."
