SIF—Schools Interoperability Framework

What is SIF?
“SIF” stands for Schools Interoperability Framework. SIF is a technical blueprint for K-12 software that will enable different applications to interact and share student data efficiently, reliably, and securely. Each application in the sharing zone communicates and receives patron information to and from a Zone Integration Server (sold separately). The Zone Integration Server becomes the main repository of student data.
Want to Reduce Duplicate Data Entry?
In the past, if a student phone number needed updating, it had to be updated in multiple software systems. When new students enrolled mid-year, they had to be enrolled in each database. This translates into repeat time and effort as well as a prolonged enrollment process for new students. With SIF in place, many of these inefficiencies can be improved.
New students can automatically be added to the Alexandria system and other systems upon enrollment in the school. Now the new student in the library can check items out just like any other student.
- Unite different software applications to share information
- Relieve frustration for staff members
- Redundant data entry will be reduced as changes made in one software system will transfer to other systems instantaneously
- Save time and money throughout the school
- Alleviate many inefficiencies and improve operations by connecting library automation, student information, food service, student ID and network management systems via the SIF

"Alexandria has helped to make our library user friendly and efficient for both students and faculty. Not only is the program great, but the Alexandria staff is too. They have been more than helpful when called. And, now I'm beginning to utilize the "Tip of the Week" located on their website."
