Alexandria Set Up Choices: Multi Data Station

Alexandria Controller / MDS (Multi Data Station) functions with each library having its own separate database; however, all databases are housed on one central server and managed by the “Alexandria Controller” application. Alexandria Controller can update and backup all of the databases at once to one location.
This configuration makes life easy for the tech person at the same time allowing autonomy for librarians to maintain control of their policies, preferences, patrons, and cataloging. Alexandria Controller/MDS gives librarians in a group of Alexandria libraries the ability to share resources with each other.
Patrons have the ability to search either an individual library, a group of libraries, or all libraries at once. Alexandria’s advanced search features allow libraries to simultaneously access all collections in real time. Each library may choose an appropriate license level for their patron base and anticipated usage.

"Alexandria has helped to make our library user friendly and efficient for both students and faculty. Not only is the program great, but the Alexandria staff is too. They have been more than helpful when called. And, now I'm beginning to utilize the "Tip of the Week" located on their website."
