Alexandria Set Up Choices: Distributed Union Catalog
Distributed Union Catalog / WAN (Wide Area Network) gives librarians in a group of libraries the ability to share resources with other Alexandria libraries, yet still manage their own collections, and independently maintain control over policies, preferences, patrons, and cataloging. Data is housed on separate servers in each library, or at a “server farm” in a central location.
Patrons have the ability to either search an individual library, a group of libraries, or the entire district at once. Alexandria’s advanced search features allow libraries to simultaneously access all collections in real time. Each library may choose an appropriate license level for their patron base and anticipated usage.

"Alexandria has helped to make our library user friendly and efficient for both students and faculty. Not only is the program great, but the Alexandria staff is too. They have been more than helpful when called. And, now I'm beginning to utilize the "Tip of the Week" located on their website."
